Raising the barre

bestgpiMonday was the first Barre – Ballet Ball at the yoga studio. Five students (Deb included!) plié-ed and tandu-ed their way in first and second positions to work their legs, core, hips and butt using the newly installed ballet bar in the studio for support.

Led by professional dancer Brooke Welty, the one hour class includes 30 minutes of bar work using traditional ballet moves to tone and stretch all muscles in the body, and 30 minutes of ball work to strengthen muscles in the arms, legs and core, all done to the rhythm of the music.

If you’re keen to find the ballet dancer in you, Barre – Ballet Bar classes are held on Monday at 7:30 pm and Wednesday at 6:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
