Halloween in the Village!!

C3, Carlsbad Causes for Community, is holding its annual Halloween In The Village Saturday, October 29 at C3 headquarters, Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-op. This fun-filled event begins at 2:00 pm at the Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-op and continues with trick-or-treating throughout The Carlsbad Village until 6:00 pm. It is a free community event for families and kids of all ages.

Halloween In The Village kicks off with the C3 Fun Zone where guests will be greeted with live music by The Elements, a teenage rock band, and enjoy a jump house, face painting, hula-hoops, and cotton candy. Guests will be given a trick-or-treat bag and a map that highlights all of the generous merchants that will be giving out treats.

To add to the festivities, there will be a costume contest for the cutest, funniest and scariest costume. Trick-or-treaters should check-in at 2:15 pm to enter the contest, and winners will be selected at 3:00 pm.

“We are so proud to be hosting the fourth annual Halloween In The Village!,” said Deb Ferraro, C3 Founder. “It’s really wonderful how many businesses in The Carlsbad Village unite as a community to help our community!”

The event is made possible in large part by the kindness of the sponsors: presenting sponsor, Homelife Village Realtors, and community sponsors: Brubaker and Associates, Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-op, and Carlsbad Counseling Center.

Once a city-funded event, Halloween In The Village is now led by C3, a non-profit consisting of local businesses, non-profits and Carlsbad residents who collaborate to raise money for various community causes by putting on programs and events around The Carlsbad Village.

Next month, C3 will host its C3 Village-wide Food Drive to benefit Got Your Back San Diego. C3 will be collecting peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, cans of tuna, and other easy to prepare items for hungry kids in North County.

For more information on Halloween In The Village, visit, or contact Deb Ferraro at or (760) 893-9251. C3 is located at 2801-B Roosevelt Street, Carlsbad, CA, inside the Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-op.

The Benefits of Yoga

ImageMost people know that yoga increases balance and flexibility. But there are plenty of other benefits to practicing yoga on a regular basis.

Some of the major benefits of yoga include:

  • helping reduce anxiety, increase body awareness and even speed the release of hormones that cause arousal. All of that translates to a boost in libido.
  • Mental endurance and physical stamina are tested through holding postures for extended breaths.
  • Arm and shoulder strength is multiplied as you use your own body weight for resistance.
  • Lats and other back muscles begin to support the spine better than before.
  • Abdominals and obliques are refined and sharpened through building core muscles.
  • Poor and average posture begins to correct itself over time.
  • Hip flexors are stretched and rebuilt.
  • Glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves are tightened and lengthened where they need to be.

Yoga can also help people suffering from insomnia, reduces stress, and creates a better sense of well-being.

If you’d like to experience some of the benefits of yoga, join us on Friday July 12 (tomorrow!) for a FREE yoga class a community potluck. Our free classes and potlucks are held every second Friday of the month; future free classes will be on Friday August 9, and Friday September 13. Hope to see you there!

The power of raw

iStock_000009999916SmallEating raw food isn’t just the latest health trend; a raw food diet is not just good for you – it’s also good science! Science proves that cooking not only destroys nutrition and enzymes but chemically changes foods from the substances needed for health into acid-forming toxins, free-radicals and poisons that destroy our health.

So with this in mind, Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness is having a FREE raw foods workshop on Sunday January 20 at 1 pm. In this workshop, you’ll learn the benefits of eating raw foods and Alkaline forming greens, as well as how to cleanse the body using raw foods and herbs for cellular regeneration. Experience the world’s first, one of a kind, patented vertical Tower Garden by Juice Plus+! You’ll also get to enjoy a green lovingly prepared meal and healthy smoothie!
