In honor of the new addition to the Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-op family, we are starting a new Me & Mommy Program that will consist of two parts: one SOCIAL and one FIT!
Even if you are a first time mommy or a mom of multiple children, this new program will be a great way to social you and your kids, swap kids gear and clothing, as well as drop those preggo pounds and stay in shape!
On Sunday, December 4th 12-1:15pm, we are launching our first monthly Me & Mommy Social. Learn about and win free passes to our Me & Mommy FIT classes starting in 2017!
Me & Mommy FIT classes (yoga, booty and core workouts) will begin on Tuesdays at 4:30 starting in January! Enjoy potluck style brunch (don’t forget to bring your favorite dish to share) while socializing yourself and your little ones! Also use this time to swap out any kid’s toys or clothing that you are no longer using.
We invite you to join us for FREE during this first session on Sunday and for only $5 every month thereafter (to help cover space & champagne).

Carlsbad Causes for Community (C3) and FrogQuest are bringing wacky photo-based Scavenger Hunt fun to the Village again!
Carlsbad natives and visitors from towns near and far are welcome to join in! These Scavenger Hunts are interactive events for family and friends to have fun together, as well as an opportunity to make new friends with other members of the community! Have your smart phones charged up and the cameras ready. You will be visiting lots of the local businesses in the village and taking photos of the new Village and of all the crazy quests your team will be performing!
There will be two scavenger hunts. The first one is for all ages and starts at 6 pm. The second hunt is for adults 21+ years only and starts at 7:30pm. We’re keeping the first one clean and family friendly, but the second hunt may involve adult libations, salutations, and Village treasures! Anything is possible, and no matter if you are an early bird or a night owl, friendly fun is guaranteed for all who dare to join us!
Teams are forming fast, so don’t miss out on the fun and your chance to win the top prize – a $500 Visit the Village gift package for each hunt! Second and third place winners for each hunt will win $250 gift packages.

Dave Kemp of DTO Music composes, performs and teaches piano and electronic music for yoga, weddings, and inspirational events to heal and awaken.
Elaine Bryan of Body & Soul Nourishment is a registered Yoga Teacher, a Reiki master and is certified in Clinical Herbalism and Nutrition/Energy Work. She believes in holistic living inside and out. Practicing yoga, reiki, and eating nutritious food helps nourish the mind, body, and soul.

Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness exists because of the wonderful people and businesses within the local community. We enjoy providing a space for the community to get fit, have fun, and make new friends! With our new monthly program, OPERATION: Ladies’ Yoga Night Out, we hope to grow our community to include the wives and girlfriends of active duty military personnel. This event will be offered one Saturday a month beginning March 8th at 6:30pm-8:30pm. For just $10 per person, guests can enjoy a 60 minute all-level yoga flow followed by a wine & potluck social hour. We hope this event will provide an evening of relaxation and fun!

Most people know that yoga increases balance and flexibility. But there are plenty of other benefits to practicing yoga on a regular basis.
Some of the major benefits of yoga include:
- helping reduce anxiety, increase body awareness and even speed the release of hormones that cause arousal. All of that translates to a boost in libido.
- Mental endurance and physical stamina are tested through holding postures for extended breaths.
- Arm and shoulder strength is multiplied as you use your own body weight for resistance.
- Lats and other back muscles begin to support the spine better than before.
- Abdominals and obliques are refined and sharpened through building core muscles.
- Poor and average posture begins to correct itself over time.

Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness, Causes for Community Carlsbad (C3), and a whole host of local Carlsbad businesses would like to invite you to the first ever Earth Day Scavenger Hunt.
The Scavenger Hunt, which will take place on Sunday April 21 after the MS Walk at Legoland, has over $5,000 in prizes to give away. All proceeds from the hunt will go towards Team Carlsbad’s goal of raising $10,000 for the MS Society.
The Scavenger Hunt is FREE for those participating in the MS Walk (to join Team Carlsbad, or to donate, please go here), or $10 for those who cannot walk in the morning but would like to participate in the hunt. Clue cards can either be picked up at the Team Carlsbad tent at Legoland for walkers, or at the Carlsbad Village Theater on State St at 11 am on Sunday morning.
The MS Walk starts at 7:00 am and Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness will lead a short yoga stretch prior to the walk.

It’s a new year, and what better way to start the new year than by introducing new classes, new partners, new memberships and new workshops?
ZUMBA fitness and, Hatha yoga, yoga therapy classes will begin in February. ZUMBA combines Latin dance moves in a fun, aerobic focused workout. Classes will be on Sunday evenings at 6 pm.
Shazia Gogia, who recently started teaching yin and yang classes on Saturday morning, will also be leading Hatha yoga and yoga therapy classes. Hatha yoga combines breathing, meditation and postures with the use of props and walls. Open to all levels, Hatha yoga classes will be held Mondays at 6 pm. Yoga therapy is perfect for those who want to do yoga but have felt inhibited by injury or pain. Taught in a safe and nurturing environment, this class addresses common issues like lower back pain, tight hips, sciatica, shoulder pain, stiffness in body, knee issues etc. Yoga therapy will be held on Tuesdays at 10 am.
Have you ever wanted to learn to bead and make your own beautiful jewelry? The first workshop of February will take place on Sunday February 3rd at 12 pm. Join us for a beading class across the street at Ocean Sky Beads! The workshop is $30, and we’ll be meeting at the yoga studio to enjoy a Veggie Protein Shake before heading across the street.
And don’t forget the first Fun Friday event of February will be a black light yoga flow class followed by sangria and snacks from the Danish Bakery, as well as a craft beer tasting from our new partner Latitude 33. The event is on Friday February 1st, and starts at 7.30 pm.
