A note from Deb (founder/owner if Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-op):
Three years ago, I signed a lease for what is now our amazing co-op. I knew less than 20 people in Carlsbad. Most were either yoga teachers or students and the rest were neighbors or my landlords. I had no money for marketing and used to drag a big homemade cardboard YOGA sign onto the Roosevelt Street sidewalk in hopes that people would find us. My plan was to work hard and to move into the studio space if the money from refinancing my house in Denver ran out. That’s not a plan. And thankfully that didn’t happen.
What did happen was MAGIC! Well sort of… Dreams, hope, faith, hard work, persistence, that of course happened (and still does)… But YOU HAPPENED!! And that’s the MAGIC part! A whole entire COMMUNITY evolved out of an EMPTY space. A community full of LOVE surfaced and has been GROWING and GLOWING under a now big lit up orange YOGA sign!
So let’s UNITE because we have a LOT to CELEBRATE! As the studio turns 3 and as I turn 39, I reflect on all the growth of not only the studio, but of all the individuals that make up our community. The friendships that have evolved, the tears that have dropped, the fears that have been overcome, and all the personal growth and breakthroughs that have happened to so many of us on so many levels.
THANK YOU for being part of this AMAZING JOURNEY! We’ve come a long way, baby! And I’m SO GRATEFUL to be on this journey with YOU!
Join Deb and the rest of the wonderful people that make this space a warm and friendly environment on September 19th, 2015 7:30pm to celebrate another year!
They will all be there to award the grant plaque and take a community photo to document that a few caring individuals can make a difference when they take a stand and create community at the grassroots level.

In addition to granting programs such as free yoga to kids, C3 also provides chair yoga to seniors 55+ and organizes holiday food drives to support local non-profits who are helping people in need.
Community Events in the Village
C3also coordinates Village events to empower the community of Carlsbad to get out there and celebrate life together. The next village event is our May 29th Scavenger Hunt. Thanks to all the winter rain, flowers are splashing color across the hills and valleys as winter goes dormant for another year. Spring has sprung and it’s the season for celebrating new life!
It’s time to make room for the new and let go of the old with some spring cleaning of your closets. For some of you that may seem like as much fun as throwing yourself in front of a train. But wait! At Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-Op we’ve made spring cleaning a cause for celebration with our bi-annual clothing swap!
Who knew spring cleaning could be so fun and social. And it’s free! Bring a snack if you care to and come swap something old for something new. So get in there and clean out your closets and join us. This is a great opportunity to recycle that old sweater or pass along those old pair of jeans to someone who would love to have them.
Our bi-annual clothing swap on April 12, 2015 from 3-6 pm is for kids and adults who want to honor the environment and their wallets by trading something old for something new. This is a chance to have some fun saving money, the planet, and time, shopping for new clothes, while making new friends at our community spring cleaning clothing swap. And, did we mention that it is free. Let’s make it a party and bring some noshes to nibble on too. We look forward to seeing all the treasures you have to share and spare. Who knows, we may even have something you can’t live without too.
Come celebrate spring at our fun and friendly community clothing swap on Sunday April 12th from 3-6 pm. While you’re there you can learn about all our yoga classes and fun community events too. We look forward to celebrating spring with you!

As an adult, the daily grind can be cumbersome and stressful, it’s important to take a break from the seriousness and just have FUN! Sure, yoga is great for stress relief and finding calm in this hectic world, but explore that fun factor and experience YOGA PLAY!
Here are Carlsbad Village Yoga Co-op we decided to elaborate on the “FUN” aspect of adult yoga and take it just a step further!
In May we launched a new program called YOGA PLAY! During this 60 minute class, tap into your inner child as Raechel guides through a fun and light-hearted yoga routine. Have you ever pretended to be a superhero or played games during your yoga practice? Well, here is the perfect opportunity to act silly and laugh at yourself!
Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness is a co-op yoga studio that embraces the concept of community in more ways than one. We believe that the studio should not only house opportunities to practice yoga, but also provide a gathering space for the community to interact and participate. We especially love incorporating opportunities for children to learn, understand, and practice yoga.
As an extension of our kids and family yoga classes, we have initiated several outreach programs and partnered with various community youth groups and schools to further encourage children to discover the benefits of yoga.
For our first initiative we have teamed with Jefferson Elementary School and their MOTION Scholarship Program. MOTION is a holistic approach to improving fitness, focus and behavior. Each day starts with students engaging in fitness based activities which elevate heart rate, fitness levels, increase strength, and produce positive reactions in the brain that allow for them to be more calm and therefore more productive in the academic setting. We have provided the school with special gift certificates for one month FREE kids yoga classes to be given monthly to three outstanding students that exhibit exceptional fitness behaviors.
Our second partnership is with the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation‘s Kids Klub. The Foundation serves as an advocate for the Lagoon and strives to preserve its natural healthy ecosystem and habitat including wildlife and marine life, while at the same time balancing the need for public access, trails and recreational opportunities. Their Kids Klub (ages 4-12) gives children access to a variety of educational programs and activities. We have offered special gift certificates for two kids and/or family yoga classes for the price of one to be distributed during the Foundation’s Kid Klub events or meetings.
Our third outreach endeavor is to hopefully inspire the teenagers in our community to come experience the benefits of yoga. High school is undeniably a stressful time in most young people’s lives. Battling the physical and social elements of their daily routines can leave teenagers feeling stressed, exhausted, and overwhelmed Our goal is to provide a more productive way to manage stress by offering high school students a discount of $10 per class with a valid student ID.
Finally, with our Yoga Angel Program we have empowered members of the community to sponsor monthly classes for a child who would like to learn yoga but does not have the means to do so. If you are interested in becoming an Yoga Angel, please contact Deb Ferraro at Deb@acewellnessnow.com.
If you would like more information about any of these programs, please visit our website www.carlsbadvillageyoga.com or email Deb Ferraro at Deb@acewellnessnow.com.
