Target specific training areas FAST with our intensive 30 minute BLAST classes!! Last month we introduced Booty Blasting Barre, a 30 minute barre workout focusing on the glutes and thighs. We liked the idea of these “BLAST” classes so much that we decided to offer you more during the month of August!
STRENGTH FIT BLAST
(Tuesdays @ 7am)
Conditioning: From core work to strength training to low-impact cardio intervals, these workouts are comprehensive and will give you a physical and mental edge. You can expect a vigorous, full body workout in 30 minutes!
BASIC YOGA BLAST
(Tuesdays @ 7:45am)
This class is great introduction to yoga, or a perfect opportunity to refine your posture for the more seasoned practitioners. All in 30 minutes, you will warm, lengthen, and relax!
BOOTY BARRE BLAST
(Wednesdays @ 6:30pm)
A fantastically short session of intense glutes and legs toning using body weight, and the barre to blast that booty!
BOOTCAMP CIRCUIT STATION BLAST
(Saturdays @ 10:30am)
This fast-paced booty shaping blast class consists of a circuit of stations including various free weight exercises, training equipment, and cardio exercises to tone the body by building muscles and burning fat!
HULA HOOPS + CORE BLAST
(Saturdays @ 11:15am)
This awesome playful class will burn calories and tighten your core, while teaching you to have a little bit of fun with hoops! This class integrates core muscles through some yoga stretching, intense core-work, and hula hoop fun!

In the USA 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted. So Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness wants to help women of all ages learn to fight back. We’re offering a free one hour self defense seminar, which will teach an easy combination of moves to use in any situation and against an attacker of any size. Empower yourself with street fighting, get away moves, and warning signs.
Leah Oviedo will teach the workshop. Leah is a certified self defense instructor in San Diego. Her motto is “Empower yourself” because she believes that we all have the power and strength to make our lives what we want. Her background includes work in the areas of foster and homeless youth, domestic violence, sexual assault and environmental protection.

Want to tone your core but not interested in Pilates? Belly Dancing may just be the answer! Discover the power of this ancient art form and connect with your inner goddess in our 8-week belly dancing course. Belly Dancing strengthens and tones the whole body, with a unique focus on the core, trunk and pelvic muscles, and it is excellent for increasing flexibility, joint strength and muscle density.
Classes are led by Megan Burnett, who has been performing belly dance across the US for the past 15 years (and she also teaches Rise and Flow Yoga on Thursday mornings).

Friday December 21 is not only the winter solstice – the shortest day of the year – but also the end of the Mayan calendar. So why not come out and celebrate the official start of winter (and perhaps the end of the world!) at Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness?
This week’s fun Friday event involves a relaxing candlelight yoga class, followed by a wine tasting from Witch Creek Winery. Snacks and chocolate will also be provided. The class starts at 7:30 pm and is $20 for package holders, or $30 drop-in. And please remember to bring tips!

Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness will be holding a free Starry Night Yoga class on New Year’s Eve. The class will start at 7:30 pm and we ask those participating to bring a bottle of champagne and/or snacks to help ring in the new year. We will be doing a New Year’s toast at 9 pm, when 2013 first finds its way to the USA on the east coast.

18 yogis participated in Friday’s free gentle yoga class, followed by a community potluck.
Free yoga is held every second Friday of the month, followed by a potluck dinner. The next Free Friday class will be on January 11.

This past Sunday saw the start of West African Drum classes at the studio. Five kids participated in the class, which focuses on basic beats and drumming techniques on the Djembe drum.
The classes are led by Adama Diop, who began performing when he was 7-years-old in his native Senegal, and who has been performing and teaching in California since 1999.
Kids classes (ages 8+) will be held every Sunday at 3 pm, and adult classes will begin this Sunday December 16 at 4:30 pm. And congrats to Adama and his wife who just had a baby last week!
Carlsbad Village Yoga and Fitness began the final month of 2012 by introducing a whole host of new classes to the schedule. This week began the first of Barre – Ballet Ball, Mommy & Me Crawlers and Walkers, Little Lotus, Young Yogis and Wise Yoga, and West African Drum classes will start up on Sunday December 9, for both young adults and adults alike.
Yoga classes for kids, from 6 months through to young adults, started this week. Run by Rachel Robinson, the classes introduce children to yoga in a fun environment, and also allows them to express creatively through music, art and stories. Rachel will also be running kids club activities during our second Friday of the month free yoga and community potluck (Friday December 14, 6 pm).
Exclusively for adults aged 50+, wise yoga awakens the body to rejuvenate and regenerate more energy. Wise yoga classes are held on Monday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.
